Some of these contain beautiful imagery, while others are marred by slightly labored prose. These sections move more slowly and include a lot of descriptive passages. The other side of the plot sees Althea dealing with Gale's apparent sabotage of the ship, as the Ananke starts to act strangely. Their bond deepens as he reveals his motivations in a very different context and mood. This is reinforced by Althea's conversations with him as she guards his cell door between Ida's questioning sessions. We also find out plenty about the absent Gale and how difficult it is to operate as outlaws within the surveillance-heavy System. As the interrogation goes on, the extent of Ida's arrogance becomes apparent while Ivan appears more human as we learn more about him, flipping the initial sense that he is a straight-forward villain.
